
DEO holds meeting with Private Schools to enhance educational and environmental standards in the district
SAS Nagar, September 13, 2024:- Dr. Ginni Duggal, District Education Officer (SE), SAS Nagar, convened a pivotal meeting with representatives from private schools in the district to discuss several key initiatives and regulations aimed at enhancing educational and environmental standards.

Divulging the details Mrs Duggal said that this capacity-building workshop was an initiative to encourage mission life activities.
The meeting, held at Amity University sector 82 A, Mohali covered a range of topics crucial to the development and well-being of students and the environment. The meeting started with a welcome note by Mr Angrez Singh, Deputy DEO (Secondary Education) Mohali.
Dr Ginni Duggal highlighted the district's commitment to environmental sustainability through the Green School Programme. This initiative encourages schools to implement eco-friendly practices, including waste management, energy conservation, and the promotion of green spaces within school premises.
Emphasising the importance of the Kala Utsav program, which celebrates and promotes traditional arts and culture, she termed it a platform for students to showcase their creative talents. Schools are encouraged to actively participate and support students in engaging with this cultural event.
Apart from that, the Eco Hackathon, a competition aimed at fostering innovative solutions to environmental challenges, was presented as an opportunity for students to apply their problem-solving skills in real-world scenarios. Schools are urged to support and prepare students for this event.
Dr. Duggal stressed the role of Eco Clubs in schools as a means to cultivate environmental awareness and responsibility among students. She called for the establishment or strengthening of Eco Clubs to drive sustainable practices and environmental education.
The discussion also included the enforcement of the Underage Vehicle Act, emphasizing the importance of adhering to regulations regarding student safety and responsible vehicle use. Schools were urged to collaborate with local authorities to ensure compliance and raise awareness among students and parents.
The MIS team provided an update on the ePunjab and UDISE (Unified District Information System for Education) portals. Jagmohan Singh (MIS Co-ordinator) emphasized the importance of accurate data entry and regular updates on these platforms to ensure effective monitoring and management of educational resources and student data.
Dr. Preetika Sharma introduced the Dream Ahead Programme, designed to enhance students' vocabulary through psychometric testing. This initiative aims to identify and address individual learning needs, helping students improve their language skills
District Education Team emphasized that these initiatives are crucial for fostering a supportive and sustainable learning environment. DEO called on all private schools in the district to actively engage with these programs and collaborate with the District Education Office to achieve these goals. A special vote of thanks was offered to Amity University for their hospitality.
