Chandigarh:- The Punjab government has started looking for black sheep in the bureaucracy of the state. In fact, during the monsoon session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan wrote a letter to the Home Department, in which it was asked to identify the black sheep in the Punjab Police and other departments. In view of this, the Home Department has started preparing a list of all those police officers and employees against whom cases have been registered by the police or the Vigilance Bureau.
The department has asked the Speaker for 10 days to complete the process and the list is to be sent to the Speaker next week. According to sources, the number of such police officers is in hundreds and it will take time to collect the details of the action taken against each of them and the legal status of their cases.
In the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Speaker had asked for a report from the DGP in the case of Bohar Singh, citing ASI Bohar Singh. Now, in such a situation, it is a difficult task for the home department to define the black sheep. In such a situation, those policemen and officers who have repeatedly committed crimes will be kept in the list on the basis of priority. Most of the policemen and officers have been prosecuted for drug trafficking and corruption.
