Patiala, July 4 - Mobilization Fortnight (Couple Contact Fortnight) is being observed from June 27 to July 10 to celebrate World Population Day on July 11 by the Health Department Punjab. Families are being made aware not to marry off girls before 18 years of age and boys below 21 years of age. Information is being given about crude methods of family planning (Copper T, CC, IUCD contraceptive pills) and safe methods (vasectomy and sterilization) to limit family size and spacing between children. The family is encouraged to adopt this tool as per their wish. He said that this time on July 11, the World Population Day will be celebrated under the theme "New Identity of Developed India, Family Planning, Dignity of Every Couple".
He said that every family should limit their family to one or two children. He also said that all the health services related to family planning are being made available free of charge by the Punjab Government Health Department in the government hospitals. District Family Welfare Officer Dr. SJ Singh said that 1100 rupees for performing non-incisional sterilization for men under fixed methods of family planning.
600 rupees for scheduled caste and below poverty line families for female castration surgery.
And women belonging to the general category are given an amount of Rs. 250 by the health department.
Dr. SJ Singh said that from July 11 to 24, incisionless sterilization for men under permanent methods of family planning.
And camps will also be organized in government health centers to conduct sterilization operations for women.
