On this occasion, the cabinet minister emphasized on the importance of sports and said that this initiative of the Punjab government is a powerful means of making the youth aware of sports and enhancing their talent. He said that sports are not only essential for physical and mental development, but also promote mutual harmony and unity in the society. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has given a new direction to sports in the state and has left no stone unturned in encouraging sportsmen.
He said that now national and international level players are being given 8 lakh to 15 lakh rupees for preparing for the competitions. And players who win medals at the international level are being given cash prizes as well as jobs in high government positions. He said that the Punjab-related players of the Indian hockey team, which performed brilliantly in the Paris Olympics recently, have been given a cash prize of Rs 1 crore each by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The cabinet minister said that the aim of the Punjab government is to connect every youth of the state with sports and keep them away from drugs. Through this program, efforts are being made to recognize the hidden sports talents at the village level, state and national level. Addressing the players and spectators, he said that discipline, hard work and perseverance are very important in sports, which are essential to achieve success in every field of life.
On this occasion, Mayor Surinder Kumar, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjita Chaudhary, Chairman of The Hoshiarpur Central Cooperative Bank Vikram Sharma, District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh Bajwa, Ravinder Singh Ruby, Ajay Rana, Harvinder Virdi, Prof. Bahadur Singh Sunet, Coach Nitish Thakur, Balbir Singh, Gursevak Singh etc. were present.
