Una, August 23 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal on Friday inspected the under-construction PGI Satellite Centre at Malahat in Una and reviewed the progress of work. He held a meeting with the concerned officials and representatives of the implementing agency 'Heights' and directed them to expedite the construction work and complete it on time. Keeping in mind the plan to start OPD service there by December this year, he asked to ensure smooth arrangements of electricity, water and drainage.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that 33 percent work of PGI Satellite Centre has been completed, and instructions have been given to complete the remaining work within the stipulated time frame. The construction of OPD and guest house of the centre is almost complete, while the proposal of Fluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) has been sent, which is awaiting approval. He also expressed satisfaction over the progress of construction work of the boundary wall and connecting roads of the centre. The work of demarcation of the boundary wall of the centre has been completed and soon the construction of the remaining boundary wall will be completed. Apart from this, the construction of connecting roads to the centre has also been completed.
It is noteworthy that a 300-bed PGI satellite centre is being built on 35 acres of land in Malahat village of Una city at a cost of about Rs 450 crore. Better health services will be available to the people of Una, Kangra, Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts there on the lines of PGI Chandigarh.
On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Una Varinder Sharma, SDM Una Vishwa Mohan Dev Chauhan, PGI Nodal Officer Rajeev Bassi, Heights CPM Ashwani Kaul, Project Engineer Ashish Kumar along with officers of concerned departments were present.
