In a significant initiative, ROTTO North (PGIMER) in partnership with Panjab University's University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS) and the Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown, hosted an impactful Organ Donation Pledging Camp at Panjab University’s Student Centre. This event, part of the ongoing ‘Be the Change, Be an Organ Donor’ campaign, also coincided with a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp organized by PGIMER’s Department of Transfusion Medicine.
The dual camp received an enthusiastic response, with 36 individuals pledging to donate their organs and 35 volunteering for blood donation, underscoring the community’s commitment to saving lives. The Department of Plastic Surgery also contributed by raising awareness about the critical need for skin donation.
Prof. Vipin Kaushal, Medical Superintendent of PGIMER and Nodal Officer of ROTTO North, lauded the students’ involvement, stating, "It’s inspiring to see so many young people embracing the cause of organ and blood donation. Their actions today will have a lasting impact on countless lives and will spread awareness far and wide."
Dr. Manjushree from Panjab University emphasized the importance of student participation, noting that their dedication to these causes sets a powerful example for others.
This collaborative effort not only encouraged organ donation but also highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation, fostering a culture of selfless service within the community. ROTTO North continues to drive awareness and inspire more individuals to contribute to society through such life-saving initiatives.
