Twenty-seven years ago, three of India’s leading medical institutes—AIIMS New Delhi, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), and PGIMER Chandigarh—initiated a pioneering Radiology teaching program. This collaboration has since produced numerous textbooks and advanced the field of Radiology.
In 1997, these institutes launched the AIIMS-MAMC-PGI Radiology teaching series, rotating the hosting duties among them. After a four-year break, the fifth series resumed at AIIMS New Delhi on August 10-11, 2024. The event was inaugurated by AIIMS Director, Dr. P. Srinivas.
This series focused on Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Imaging, marked by the launch of a textbook on the subject. Edited by Dr. Raju Sharma (AIIMS), Dr. M.S. Sandhu (PGIMER), and Dr. Gaurav Pradhan (MAMC), the book includes contributions from Prof. Mandeep Kang and Prof. Naveen Kalra of PGIMER.
The conference attracted around 400 delegates and featured didactic lectures, panel discussions, paper presentations, quizzes, and film reading sessions. Radiology residents from various prestigious institutes, including AIIMS, MAMC, and PGIMER, competed in the Radiology quiz competition.
PGIMER residents excelled, with Dr. Pallavi, Dr. Nishita Yadav, and Dr. Shouvik winning first prize on day one, and Dr. Chandrashekhar, Dr. Vikram, and Dr. Manish securing second prize on day two. Additionally, Dr. Gopika Sri from PGIMER won the "Best Paper" Award for her research under Dr. Ujjwal Gorsi's guidance.
The next conference in the series will be held at MAMC New Delhi in March 2025, focusing on Pulmonary and Cardiac Radiology, followed by a Neuro Radiology conference at PGIMER later that year.
