PGIMER Chandigarh holds a Workshop on Neonatal Airway Management

PGIMER Chandigarh hosted a workshop on “Neonatal Airway Management” on July 21, 2024, aimed at addressing the unique challenges of managing newborns who may require immediate respiratory support or surgery due to birth defects. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. RK Ratho, Dean Academics, and Prof. Usha Saha, President of the Neonatal Anaesthesia Society.

PGIMER Chandigarh hosted a workshop on “Neonatal Airway Management” on July 21, 2024, aimed at addressing the unique challenges of managing newborns who may require immediate respiratory support or surgery due to birth defects. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. RK Ratho, Dean Academics, and Prof. Usha Saha, President of the Neonatal Anaesthesia Society.
Experts from Pediatric Anaesthesia, Neonatology, Surgery, Anatomy, and ENT shared insights on perioperative management and problem-solving strategies. The event saw 40 delegates learning about neonatal airway management using dissected fetal specimens and practicing on mannequins. A perioperative neonatal simulation station was also set up to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills.
Organizing Chairperson Prof. Indu Sen emphasized that controlled environment training boosts participant competency. Dr. Usha Saha highlighted the need to reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality, while Dr. Ratho called for more such events. The workshop also featured a quiz competition.
