Kavi Durbar will be held every year in memory of Surjit Patar: Dr. Oberoi

Patiala, May 25 - Sarbat da Bhala Charitable Trust will hold a poet's darbar every year at Anandpur Sahib in memory of late Surjit Patar, a renowned author of Punjabi literature, known as a magician of words. A library will also be established there.

Patiala, May 25 - Sarbat da Bhala Charitable Trust will hold a poet's darbar every year at Anandpur Sahib in memory of late Surjit Patar, a renowned author of Punjabi literature, known as a magician of words. A library will also be established there. Through a statement issued to the press, the Managing Trustee of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust and eminent social worker Dr. SP Singh Oberoi said that the memory of Surjit Patar at Sunny Oberoi Vivek Sadan (Advance Institute) run by Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust in Anandpur Sahib. Where poets' court will be held every year, their living room in Vivek Sadan will be converted into a library.
   He said that some time ago at Sunny Oberoi Vivek Sadan and Advance Institute of Social Sciences in Anandpur Sahib, a two-day world-class conference was held by Sarbat Da Bhala Trust. It was conducted under the chairmanship of Surjit Patar, in which 28 eminent scholars of Punjabi were invited, during which Dr. Surjit Patar also stayed here for two days. He said that Surjit Patar Huran had told him that this room, in which he (Patar Sahib) was staying, was Allot them firmly. Dr. Oberoi told that during that time I had told him that from today this room is yours permanently. He further said that according to Patar Huran's advice, a four-day Kavi Durbar was planned to be held at Anandpur Sahib by preparing 52 selected poets, which Patar Sahib was to preside over, but due to Surjit Patar's sudden departure, this Kavi Durbar has now been cancelled. 2 months has been put forward, which will now be dedicated to Surjit Patar Huron. 
       Reminiscing his old memories with Surjit Patar, Dr Oberoi said that he had a very close friendship with Patar Sahib and he was also a member of the five member advisory committee of Sunny Oberoi Vivek Sadan and Advanced Institute of Social Sciences. He also told that Surjit Patar often visited him in Dubai and wrote several works by him sitting in the balcony of his sea-facing house. Dr Oberoi said that of course the characters have left us physically but spiritually their memories will always be connected to every Punjabi.
