Deputy Director Health and Family Welfare Department, Punjab, Dr. Pawan Kumar today inaugurated the three-day National Pulse Polio Campaign to administer drops of 'Oral Polio Vaccine' (OPV) to children aged zero to five years at District Hospital, Nawanshahr. done On this occasion, they also administered anti-polio drops to the children.
  Meanwhile, Deputy Director Dr. Pawan Kumar held a Pulse Polio Review meeting with Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur and District Immunization Officer Dr. Mandeep Kamal along with other senior officials and reviewed the operation of the ongoing campaign in the district. He asked the top health officials to inquire about the performance of the National Pulse Polio campaign on the first day and to ensure that 100 percent of children between zero and five years of age are administered polio drops in the remaining days. District Immunization Officer Dr. Mandeep Kamal said that during the National Pulse Polio Campaign in the district, a target of 55864 children between 0 to 5 years of age has been set to administer polio drops. He said that today 2382 children at Nawanshahr, 1134 at Banga, 1264 at Rahon, 1555 at Balachore Urban, 8351 at Muzaffarpur, 4621 at Mukandpur, 5944 at Sujon, 3539 at Saroa, 5046 at Balachore Rural were administered polio drops. Thus, on the first day, 60.56 percent of the set target has been achieved by administering anti-polio drops to 33,836 children. He said that the children who were deprived of polio drops today, 447 health teams will go to their homes on March 4 and March 5 and give them polio preventive drops. He said that no stone is left unturned to carry out the Pulse Polio campaign successfully. The District Vaccination Officer appealed to all the parents of the district to administer polio drops to all their children between zero and five years of age during this campaign and said that the pulse polio campaign is being conducted through strong micro-planning going door to door for the next two days. is to ensure that no child misses two drops of life.
