
Punjabi month was celebrated with book award distribution and cultural presentations

District Planning Committee Patiala Chairman Jasbir Singh Jassi Sohianwala joined the event as a special guest and the event was presided over by Padma Shri Dr. Ratan Singh Jaggi did it. Shomani Punjabi poet Darshan Buttar joined as special guest. Additional Director of Language Department Dr. Virpal Kaur welcomed the guests and gave information about the events organized by the language department during the Punjabi month.
Special guest Jassi Sohianwala said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken great initiatives to give due respect to the Punjabi language, which are showing very meaningful results. He said that we are proud that our mother tongue is the language that has been spoken from the head of the Gurus. In this language, the universally accepted verse of the world and giving the message of humanity has been composed. That is why we should speak our proud Punjabi mother tongue with pride. S. Jassi congratulated the award winners and urged them to make more efforts for the promotion of Punjabi mother tongue. Dr. in his presidential speech. Ratan Singh Jaggi said that he is happy that the language department has been working as the flag bearer of Punjabi mother tongue for a long time. He said that the language department is a treasure of knowledge and the new generation should benefit from it in every way. Shiromani Kavi Darshan Buttar said that the language department has always been working for the promotion of Punjabi mother tongue and such efforts should be continued in the future. Finally Deputy Director Harpreet Kaur thanked everyone. Kamaljit Neelon started the event with his popular song 'Mano Billi'. After this, Ram Singh Albela made his mark with literary songs. Poet Nirmala Garg created a sensation by presenting a poem dedicated to the Punjabi mother tongue. Then the cultural team of Punjab Police made the event a success with their excellent performances. Chhalla by Mast Ali, Kangana and Mirza by Ravinder Kaur, Punjabi song by Sukhdas, Jugni by Karm Raj Karma, Kavishri and Dhadee Jathe sang with standard songs. Apart from this, the folk dance Jhumar of Punjab was also performed. On this occasion, Ajaim Singh Chatha, Ram Singh Albela, Kamaljit Nilon, Narpal Singh Shergill who arrived from Canada were also honored.
