Special canteens have been opened to make them self-reliant.
He said that the morale of the special children has been increased by the District Red Cross Society through the 'Wings' project and these special children will become self-reliant by running the canteens themselves. By inaugurating these canteens in District Red Cross Society Office, Government College, Government ITI and Swami Sarvananda Giri Regional Institute, Regional Center of Punjab University, the courage of special children has been increased. Meanwhile, he also provided an honorarium of Rs 5100-5100 for the training period to the special children running all the canteens.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, Mayor Surinder Kumar, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, District Red Cross Society Secretary Mangesh Sood were also present with him. The Cabinet Minister said that the project which has been started by the District Red Cross Society to make children with special needs self-reliant, there will hardly be such a project anywhere in the country. He said that the children have been entrusted with the responsibility of these canteens by giving them regular training. He said that now it is our responsibility to encourage these children and support them in the step they have taken to become self-reliant. He said that the purpose of these canteens opened for special children is to connect the children with the mainstream of society by making them stand on their feet. The Cabinet Minister said that he felt very happy to come here and for this the entire team of the District Red Cross Society deserves praise. Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that the District Red Cross Society has built these canteens in 4 major places of the city including three educational institutions.
In which 8 children out of 21 children of Atma Dev Atma Sukh Ashram and JSS Asha Kiran Special School were shortlisted and they were given two and a half months of service, hospitality, currency recognition, UPI training, after which two in each canteen today. Special children are self-reliant and ready. He appealed to the students of the educational institutions and said that they should support these children so that their morale increases and they become capable and run these canteen shops.
Interest should arise in them to progress further. He said that the bank account of all the special children running the canteen has also been opened, in which their monthly salary will be deposited.
