Nawanshahr, August 19 - Bahujan Samaj Party leaders led by area MLA Dr. Nachhatar Pal today handed over a memorandum in the name of the President to Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar over the unfortunate incident of forced adultery and murder of a female doctor in Calcutta. Addressing the media on this occasion, MLA Dr. Nachhatar Pal said that today the whole country is celebrating the festival of Rakhi.
Its purpose is to protect daughters, sisters, women. But in recent days, a disgusting case of forced adultery and murder of a 31-year-old doctor came to light in a private hospital named RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Calcutta city, which has not only once again sparked a discussion about being unsafe. But the condition of women in the country has exposed the anti-women character of the governments. On the night of August 8, the victim doctor of RG Kar Hospital, a private hospital in Calcutta, went to the seminar hall to rest for a while after having dinner with her colleagues. The victim was on long duty like other junior doctors and since there was no rest room for doctors in the hospital above, the seminarian had recently slept for a while to rest. This heinous incident came to light after her half-naked and blood-soaked body was found during cleaning in the morning. He said that the hospital administration tried its best to suppress the matter, but the students studying there, doctors and later students from all over Calcutta came out on the streets. Under pressure from the people, the post-mortem of the body was done.
An alleged accused posted as a civil volunteer in the Calcutta Police has been arrested. An indication of the seriousness of the Mamata government is that even though the college principal Sandip Ghosh was removed from the post under pressure, after a few hours the government appointed him as the principal of Calcutta National Medical College. Anger has spread across the country against this heinous incident and doctors, students etc. of hospitals in different cities are demanding justice. He said that all justice-loving people should cooperate in this struggle. Demands like safety of women doctors, rest house for doctors, compensation to the victim's family should be met immediately.
Along with this, it is also important to understand this whole issue by linking it to the crimes against women and the big question of women's liberation. He said that the ink of this incident had not even cooled down when recently another such incident happened in Dehradun. Bahujan Samaj Party is supporting the struggling organizations and hopes that incidents like forced zia should be stopped. He said that through this memorandum, Bahujan Samaj Party demands from the President that strict action should be taken against the culprits of this incident.
